1 John 1:5-7 Do I have to quit my job to be a Christian?
In Romans chapter 14 which we have learnt from our previous video. The Bible teaches us that whether to die or to live we are to die and live for Jesus Christ. We are no longer belong to ourselves. Many may have many ideas about this point, may think that “This is my life, why can’t I live for myself?” Why do I have to live for Christ? Is that mean I must not work and all I do is to go tell other about Jesus and I have to quit my job and cannot run my own business?” Friends, to say that we are to live for Jesus Christ, doesn’t mean that we must quit our jobs, so that we can go around and tell others about Jesus Chist. Our lives are the proclamation of Jesus Christ. Whether you are a student, when you go to school, you can still live your live by proclaiming Christ as well, through your righteous live you live. Whether you are an employee, an entrepreneur, an officer, no matter what you are, you can still live for Jesus Christ in your righteous, honest lives you live. To live for Jesus Christ doesn’t mean we have to put down our lives and quit our jobs. Instead, it’s mean that we will not let, greediness, evil desire, immorality, or any disobedience works similarly, the way of a sinful life leading our lives at all. We are to put off all of those. Because when we live in our new life through our obedience toward the Gospel, we have started a new life. We must not return to our old life. But if we have been born again in Christ mean that after we obeyed the Gospel and we went back to our old lives, we do not have fellowship, we do not have that friendship that connect with Christ at all. In the epistle of 1 John 1:5-7 saying: “This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. 6 If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.” This is what we are told to do, to live for Jesus Christ mean that we must not continue in sin. That doesn’t mean we will never be tripping. There are times that we are tripping, the Bible teaches us what to do, when we tripped. We must repent and confess, asking for forgiveness from God. But what’s important is that my friend, to live in Jesus Christ is to live in a righteous life. No matter what your job is, no matter what your business you are running, you can all always proclaim Christ, there is no need for you to quit from your job. To live for Jesus Christ is to live in obedience and in righteousness.
